Don’t Get Stuck in a Weight Loss Cycle

You diet, drop a few pounds and then put it back on again. Consequently you do the same thing over and over again and it just gets frustrating. Sound familiar? Well it’s time to break out of the cycle and learn how to lose weight effectively- without a fancy diet.

Here are some rules that can help weight loss:

  • Enjoy your body and ditch guilt. Often, women in particular, focus on their flaws and ignore what is brilliant about their bodies. So what if you are carrying a bit of extra weight? Try not to focus outwardly on your body, it is an amazing machine that serves you well. In the end, with good diet and exercise you will get where you want to be, so appreciate what you have for now. Don’t feel guilty for indulging every now and then either, you might regret eating something, but don’t see it as a failure, just something you enjoyed at the time. You can work it off later.
  • See food for what it is. Food is the tool to sustain your body and keep you going. Don’t turn to food when you are bored, so many people make this mistake. Keep yourself occupied and just see food for what it really is, something you need when you are hungry, this is the only time you should eat.
  • Plan your work outs.. If you schedule time for a work out then you are more likely to do it: if you feel like ditching it then consider whether what you plan to do instead is really worth it. Give yourself incentive by buying new exercise clothes regularly as you drop weight. If you know you are exercising regularly you will feel less guilty when you indulge on a night out or suchlike as you know you will burn it off the next day.
  • Rotate exercises. If you think about it, if you do the same exercise repeatedly then you are just working one part of your body constantly and leaving others as they are. Although you may want to target one area, it is important for overall health that you work your whole body. Varying exercise makes it less boring and also helps you lose weight faster. Try to avoid going to a regular classes that focus on one body part and use a variety of equipment or exercises instead.
  • Use weights. Use weights that push you. Don’t worry about looking too muscular, weights can also just help to tone your body. Try doing 15 reps, twice a day, 3 days a week. Your body works hard to maintain muscle when you have it so, the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn, even when resting.
  • Ignore the scales. Don’t constantly look at the scales. Monitor your health on whether you feel good. Don’t just restrict yourself to a number. If you are exercising and building up muscle you may not lose much weight anyway, as muscle weighs more than fat.

Try to get out of a diet mindset, healthy eating and regular exercise is the best plan to lose weight; and remember the rules above.
