Can Aerobic Exercise even Improve Mental Health?

Everyone wants to have a healthy and fit body. In addition having improved mental health is also one such thing that everyone wishes for.

The importance of improved mental health cannot be ignored, it is considered above most other aspects. The most common question that often emerges in the minds of most people is how to improve mental health and is it possible? Moreover those who have heard about aerobic exercises tend to ask whether aerobic exercise itself can improve mental health.

When talking about matters of mental health it is worth stating that it is a broad topic and it includes several conditions. Two of the conditions that aerobic exercise will help the most are anxiety and depression. Aerobic activity helps stimulate endorphins and hormones that will help to balance some forms of depression and anxiety. It also helps burn up the extra endorphins that life may have created for you with the stress of the day. Flight or fight is a true phenomenon and by using up the endorphins they will be less likely to stick around and increase your mental distress.

I find aerobic exercise to include walking. I walk at least thirty minutes a day and the fresh air and scenery on a nice or even dull day picks my mood up considerably. I make it a daily event to get out and get some fresh air by walking everywhere. I cut out sugar in my diet and only eat one bagel for breakfast with a coffee and the same for lunch. I have lost weight and feel great as a result of walking and simply cutting back on what and how much I eat. The benefits to improved mood and general feeling of wellness is terrific.

Stress Benefits Of Aerobic Exercise: If you’ve ever sat in the front at a red light and watched the faces driving past, you know most people are living a stressed out, unhappy experience of life. Obviously, exercise will do nothing for our life circumstances, but it may change how we view those circumstances.

I find that for me a run or a long walk helps clear the mind. That often take my focus off myself and onto other people. I noticed all these little things I forget.

Yoga is great exercise.Exercise creates a strong body. A strong body creates a clear mind. A clear mind is less stress. Taking a few minutes each day to focus on one’s self helps strengthen the mind, body and being- be it walking, dance or yoga.

If someone were to choose to do anaerobic training for over a year, the body would adapt to using glycogen as fuel instead of the fatty acids employed in aerobic training. The body will use the training to develop quick twitch muscle fibers versus slow, as well as create muscle mass, explosive strength and overall power. The choice to use anaerobic training would allow muscle growth and fitness, but not overall cardiovascular health and no endurance. Body builders are your typical anaerobic training clientele.
