Multi-grain Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 tablespoons Canola oil

Instructions:

1. Insert the muffin liners into the cups on the muffin pan.
2. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
3. In a bowl add the dry ingredients then combine the wet ingredients and stir until well blended and smooth.
4. Scoop mixture into the muffin cups until they are 2/3 full.
5. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 16 minutes, or until toothpick comes back clean from testing it in the center of the muffin.

Do you have a large lunch or do you eat a tiny, tiny meal and wait to have a large meal at dinner?

Have you considered that you burn more calories in the afternoon until bedtime than you do from dinner till bedtime?

Try switching your meal size and see how that helps with your calorie counts. You may find your cravings at snack time and dessert time are far less.

There are no correct answers to this question. The focus is on pushing yourself each and every set and not hitting the same major muscle group two days in a row. Otherwise there are so many different ways to write a program depending on your goals and any health issues you may have.

Creamy Tomato Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 pounds fresh, ripe Italian tomatoes, chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 8 sun-dried tomatoes, soaked
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • Salt and black and red pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons fresh, chopped parsley, basil, or dill

Preparation:

1. Sauté onions in olive oil until soft. Add fresh tomatoes and stir until the mixture boils.

2. Remove the dried tomatoes from water and coarsely chop. Add them and their soaking water to the pot and cook, stirring briskly to prevent sticking.

Reebok’s new fitness push

I have to say that I am a huge step aerobics fan. My husband bought me the Reebok step and the video, PLUS step shoes and outfits when they very first came out. I still have that original VHS tape and it still kicks my butt. Reebok makes killer workouts and is always working on cutting edge for new class formats. LOVE THAT!

Do you lift weights?

Weights are important for so many reasons. But some quick one’s that usually help woman make that mental transition are the fact that muscle is a living tissue and will burn calories, so the more you have the more calories you can burn. If you add weight bearing exercises you can help ward off osteoporosis. And who doesn’t want to firm up those abs, arms, shoulders, thighs?
