Go Low Carb not NO Carb

In today’s world, people try all kinds of fads diets in an effort to lose weight. Everyone has a different opinion about what works and many of them will work in the short term. What definitely does not work is a diet where carbohydrates are cut out in their entirety. A healthy eating plan should include fats, carbohydrates, and protein. To follow a diet without them would be to endanger your health.

Is Acne Linked to Diet?

I remember as a teenager going to the dermatologist for help with my acne. My mother was always telling me to cut back on chocolate and sugary foods so she mentioned this to the dermatologist. Strangely enough my dermatologist disagreed and said that these foods aren’t linked to acne.

I’m not so sure this is true. Perhaps in many cases such as when you’re having hormonal fluctuations, acne is inevitable, but the food we put into our bodies does have an overall effect on our health and so of course it will have an effect on our skin too. Everything we eat makes up who we are, our skin, hair, nails, and even the way we think and feel. When we eat unhealthy the rest of our bodies suffer for it, so why not our skin as well?

Why is Sugar Bad for You?

Sugar has become a staple in our modern diet, but why is sugar bad for your health? Many foods we eat on a regular basis are loaded with sugar. Sometimes you can’t even taste the sugar but it’s still in there. As delicious as sugar-laden foods may taste, the truth is sugar is just bad for your health, especially when you start to overindulge in it.

Sleek Muscles

Women and strength training. Not something a lot of females like to do. Even after all these years of research and articles, most women are paranoid about bulking up. There are so many health benefits to weight training that we need to bust this myth.

First of all we love those sleek arm and back muscles don’t we? With the beautiful defined shoulders. They look so good with a sundress or tank top. There’s no way to accomplish that without some resistance training. Resistance and strength training are one and the same. We just associate strength training with body building and huge muscle mass. There is no reason to have this fear of the weight room. We can train for the definition instead of the bulk.

Vegetables – Health Food Or Killers

With the recent outbreak of e-coli traced back to bagged spinach of all things, the FDA now suggests consumers thoroughly wash all bagged produce (including salad) before consuming it to avoid the extreme diarrhea e-coli bacterial can cause.

The e-coli bacteria can be found in any raw or undercooked foods. Most often outbreaks are linked to undercooked meat, or unsafe handling of raw meat, particularly ground beef. What was up until now less well known is that e-coli can also be found on fresh produce like fruits and vegetables.
