QOTW – being sick and eating

Does being sick affect your eating in a positive or negative way?
For the most part it I will lose my appetite. It’s usually allergies and we don’t even need to go into the effects of post
nasal drip on the stomache.  But, that said, I notice when I do eat I usually crave more unhealthy stuff. I wonder if that is a comfort type thing?

It’s definitely something I have to think about when I am working on losing weight.  It’s very easy to grab the grilled cheese sandwich (hubby will make with lots of butter) and high sodium chicken noodle soup.  You just have to find something else to comfort you instead.  Hugs with a kid or pet work wonders.  ;)

What is life without brownies?  These are a family favorite and there have been many birthdays that the brownies are requested instead of a cake.  lol

Easy Low-Fat Brownies

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 4oz jar of prune-flavored baby food
3 egg whites
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
¼ cup whole wheat flour, ¼ cup white flour

Preheat oven to 350F.  Pray a non-stick brownie pan with a little cooking spray.  Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.  Bake for approximately 25 minutes, taking care not to over bake.  Remove to wire rack to cool and serve.

Reason to lose weight

What is your real reason for losing weight?

I will admit it…I’m vain and competitive and there’s nothing wrong with that.

I do want to keep myself healthy, but those other 2 reasons beat it any day.  I have found that I become stagnate if I don’t have a race or sport goal in mind as well.  But this is just how I work, you need to find what works for you.

Celebrate each success along the way and enjoy the way your body looks at each step. It makes all the work more worth it.

What healthy choices have you made today?

Instead of any fast food or convenience food I bought some dark rye bread and some roast beef and came home to make a sandwich.  No mayo, no cheese and lots of veggies.  I feel much better about this decision that what I wanted to get.

This questions is in honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day and also cause the sun has shined here for a few days. Not normal for Seattle in late Winter.

What is your favorite flower?

I have favorites, but they are kind of in catagories.  lol  My favorite fancy flower is the Star Gazer Lily.  I had a ton of them in our wedding.  My favorite for scent is Carnation.  And the one I could fill my house up with is just the plain old daisy.

What size pictures do you print out most often?

I almost always print off 4×6.  This way I can crop out the image for scrapbooking and still have it be large enough.

Herbs That Help You Sleep

It seems like every time I turn on the T.V., I see an ad for another new prescription sleep aid.  You can find them from you pharmacist and over the counter in every shape and size.  It’s like they’ve made the perfect sleep aid for every occasion, but what if you don’t want to take dangerous and possibly addictive chemicals to get yourself to sleep every night?

Can Vitamin B12 Help Weight Loss?

You may have heard claims of B12 shots producing significant weight loss in no time.  You also may have heard scientists say that there’s no proof B12 helps you lose weight (but it has been proven to keep you from gaining it).  So what’s the truth?  What is B12 and does it really help you lose weight?
